Need 16 12 pound cannonades, found this similar scale from a different kit, made clay molds for plastic injection. Mold so easy to do it’s criminal. Know the prices I saw on sites like model monkey.
Like I mentioned, final pre hardware and ropes for all the cannons. Two 12 pound long and 16 24lb cannonades. I pot red muzzle caps on them. Unsure if that right or good but too late
My first ever attempt at a capstan. Used poplar on top, walnut and oak in middle, with brass nails and sheet. Placed in ship with rotation locks. Happy with results. My only complaint is I believe the base is suppose to be slightly larger than the cap. Note for next time.
Large amount of progress. Hope you like the photos. Please, experienced guys leave criticism, I’m an adult and can take it all. After criticism please leave how it should be done. Happy building.
Save for the beakhead she very much has the lines of a Baltimore Clipper about her. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that there was some cross-pollination there. French to American, I think. Someone in the know will no doubt fill me in on the details.
I like the coppering, and the patina. I've never had a clue as to how copper patinizes under long exposure to salt seawater. My wife and daughter are at the beach as we speak. Maybe I can prevail upon them to bring back a jar full so's I can experiment before I get around to coppering "Flying Cloud's" hull bottom. Worth a try.
