POF La Palme (L'Amarante) Corvette 1744 1:36 (Ancre Monograph) by Tobias

Hello everyone.
Day 4-9:
18 frames are done. In the last few days I've only made a frame every now and then in the evening. It's just too nice to be in the workshop and I've been tasked with building a tree/playhouse. Yes, I am powerless against my daughter and her son.

The last picture shows a nice 1:? scale house, Tobias.
And I agree with Paul: you have to use there also the square bolts.
Regards, Peter

Your "Baumhaus", better to say "Haus am Baum" will be great - I am pretty sure, that your grandson will love it, and I guess several other children (and adults) also
and btw: very good work on your framing - accurate and clean work as we know from you -> Bravo!!!

As they say, family comes first! Well done on the work on the game house you are building for the grandson, it looks promising

Suerte. Seguro que haces una obra de arte

Hello dear friends, I'm back with some news.
As I said, I needed a little break from the endless nailing. However, I was not idle and continued to build on the grandchildren's house and we went on a few trips.

Here we have been on the Valhalla.

Now back to the shipyard:
The first plan is 90% complete.

The wrong keel (please correct me if that's the wrong term) was on yesterday's agenda, it's split in two and staggered. Conclusion I have to redo why, I didn't check the copies I made against the plan like I usually do. I.e. it is about 3% too big, does not help.

Today I dedicated myself to the mast bearings and the bow clamps.

Oh yes, the 7 frames are already marked and ready for drilling.

Thanks for looking.

Looking very good Stephan. Great start on your trail board carvings. Question for you. I see by the dotted lines there will be rabbits in the upper and lower cheeks to hold the ship's trail board in place. Do you know how wide that rabbit will be?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers.

Sorry Ken I can't understand your question, maybe it's the translation. or you made a mistake in the blog because I'm not Stephan.

Oh, so sorry Tobias. I just posted to Stephan in another post. I guess his name was still in my head. :) So the dotted lines in the upper and lower cheek timbers in your photo. Where in between them the trail board you are carving will be placed. They dotted lines indicate that a slot will be rabbited or mortised in them so a tenon or tab that is proud of the edge of the trail board will fit into. I'm curious if you will follow this and if so how wide will the tenon and mortise be.

Colors, as I understand the plan show where the head pieces will meet, yes?

As I understand, the cross section where those 3 elements meet would look like the picture below.

I was curious if you were going to create the joints or just glue the trail board to the cheeks. If you were going to create the joints how wide would you make the mortise/tenon part of it. The reason I'm asking, is I have the same method outlined in my plans for Le Fleuron, but cannot find information on the width of the mortise and tenon.

Just curious. If my question is not clear, don't worry.

Thanks.

Good morning Ken,
yes you see that correctly. A groove is milled into the two stringers, approx. 1.5mm wide and 1.5mm deep. Yes, I will try to mill this groove and have already looked at a few ideas of how our colleagues do it. According to the plan, the trailboard consists of three parts, I will build it from one piece like one or the other from the French forum.

I hope I could help you Ken and thanks for your interest.

Very interesting. Thank you Tobias for the picture of L'Amarante's plan. I did not see this same information on my ship's plan. I will take a closer look. Even if not found, your information gives me the general rule for the feature and I will proceed accordingly.

Thank you again.
Cheers.

At the moment there is unfortunately nothing new friends, I'm trying to organize my workshop something. Building special tools and drawers etc. La Palme is also getting a new shipyard tomorrow I'll get another delivery of wood and I can build more drawers and boxes. Here are a few pictures of the new assortment box for wooden strips and boards.
