Hello Friends,

I've been having a problem with one of my eyes (retinal bleed) and I went in today for some treatment and now I can hardly see at all (temporary). Of course that means I can't work on my ship.

But I couldn't sleep last night (anxious about my procedure) so I ended up in the Kattner Shipyard installing gudgeons and the rudder before my eye appointment. Here is the result (all accomplished with only one functioning eye  :)).

I can't wait until I can see clearly again to learn how it all turned out ROTF. Thanks for the visit!

Oh Paul it is very concerning to hear about your eye. I hope it is contained and resolves without any deficit.
Events like this reminds us all of the precious and fragile nature of our health.
i wish you a speedy recovery and return to full function.
That said, Its amazing what a one-eyed kattner can do in the shipyard.

I wouldn't be much worried about the ship... what about the kids who are waiting for the braces?!? :p
Please get better soon, mon ami!

BTW, the pintles, gudgeons, and rudder are in full harmony and look fantastic, yeah...I like the idea of using the shims representing the planks on the Port's side.

Thanks for your concern guys! The retinal specialist's daughter is my patient so I trust I received his best effort during my surgery this morning ROTF. If not, I have a spare...

It will likely be a few months before everything is settled. But I've been working with only one eye for almost two weeks now so I expect to continue in that same way.

I found another picture that I never posted (hawse hole lining with lead):

Dear Paul. Not to fret about the quality of your work. One-eyed / two-eyed; it makes absolutely no difference as to the impeccable work that we are used to from you. I trust that you will have a speedy and permanent recovery.

I love the pictures of yoour stern (especially the first one). It will be really nice if you will send it to me in high resolution, that I can put it on my workbench as motivation.
I wish you good luck with your surgery and a speed recovery.

Hey! 'One Eye Doc" Wishing you a speedy recovery. Aslo excellent work using one eye only. However, judging by the above pictures, I note you marked all the spots that your other eye could see. ;) ---- get well quickly, Cheers.

Witaj
Wracaj Pawle szybko do pracy, wygląda cudownie. Oko po zastosowaniu zabiegu około 6 miesięcy, aby zrobić to sobie, wiem, że to dobrze bo moja żona, dwie operacje odwarstwała się jej siatkówka, ale głowa do góry będzie dobrze. Pozdrawiam Mirka

Hopefully the surgery will solve the problem, Paul. And you will have a quick recovery.
Regards, Peter

Gosh, I don't know Gilbert. I did them over several months rather than all at once. I can tell you that the human brain (and back) can only take treenailing for so long before you need to work on something else. In the middle of the installation process it all seemed hopeless (and foolish) - but looking back I guess I do like the overall appearance and sense of accomplishment.
Good morning Paul. All that beautiful work just to be hidden. I’m not resurrecting old discussions however if was me I would make some plan to see this- it’s too good not to. I’m still thinking you should do a “Uwek” and cut her in half. Anyway stunning work as alway Paul. Cheers Grant
