I think I'll start by making a jig like yours and practice making some copper plating.

I haven't been around for a while but now I'm back in action. I started copper plating the hull. Even though the nailing pattern is not very accurate historically, I prepare copper plates using my own methods because I like the way they look.

I use self-adhesive foil tape on copper plating

Great work with the copper plating, looks good, very inspiring. I like your method of marking the copper tape, thanks for sharing.
I haven't decided yet how I'm going to do mine. The Amati plates on Marc's are very impressive but at a price, I'll experiment with the copper tape first.

I agree with you Tony. Marc's plates are both accurate and flashier. I attempted to buy them but the cost of goods plus shipping would have cost me almost the price of a model boat kit, so I gave up. It's really expensive.

Dear Marc,
Amati copper plates would have cost me about 150 Euros including tax and shipping. I spent 15 Euros for the copper tape.

I completed the copper plating of the hull. The next stage is to prepare the rudder and install it in place while the ship is still in upside down position. This job is much easier when the ship is in this position.

The gudgeons were cut from 0.3 mm brass sheet and mounted in place with nails.

I applied matte varnish on the copper plating. The shiny and disturbing image is gone.

Just one small comment related to the thickness of the rudder blade - do not forget to reduce the width of the blade before coppering
At the bottom the blade is much thinner (green) than on the top (red)

very nice work on the copper sheets.
I noticed that blending doesn't forgive mistakes, but the pictures can be misleading.
