Hello, I'm showing you a small photographic report of the museum created at the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada in the municipality of Liérganes, Cantabria, Spain. Until well into the 17th century, naval cannons were primarily made of bronze and in Spain they were manufactured in Seville, at the Royal Factory of Santa Bárbara. Subsequently, cannons were made of iron, manufactured in La Cavada. You'll be able to see a magnificent section of the ship Santísima Trinidad and an impressive model of the ship San Juan de Nepomuceno.

Some of these 24 and 36-pound cannons are still fired during festivities or commemorations on the beaches of Cantabria, such as the one in Noja.

Machinery and lathes for the manufacturing of cannon barrels. At a certain point, the barrels ceased to be made through casting in molds and began to be turned on lathes, which increased precision in shooting. Notice the colossal cutting tool and the imposing blades for turning.
