In the US, there's no doubt: the Wright Brothers were the first to fly an airplane. But abroad...opinions vary. One of the contenders is Santos Dumont, that flew his 14Bis, supposedly the first to lift it from the ground using only the power of it's V8 Antoinette Engine. We already offer the Wright Flyer model. Now we present you with the 14 Bis.

Developed in cooperation with Nauticurso, our partners in Brazil - where Santos Dumont was born - this kit uses the same Brazilian wood that as the real plane: Freijo and Bamboo.

New Zealander Richard Pearse was the first person to fly, as early as 31 March 1902, more than 18 months before the Wright brothers. Later, witnesses reported that Pearse flew 400 metres and soft-landed on a hedge on his Timaru farm.

It's a big discussion. There's also a German that claims to be the first one. Too bad we can't create accurate models for all of them. At least the Wrights Flyer and the 14Bis we could.

Actually Richard Pearse'e machine is well documented and I'm sure they, that like aeroplanes and flying machines would assemble one with one eye shut :)
