My dear fellow shipmates.

It has been a month or so since I have terminated the Airfix 1/600 Graf Spee. I have re-discovered interest in the HMS Hood, and found the Tamiya 1/700 kit among some of the ships I have. And now the reading about this ship has started. And what treasures have I discovered. On the Hood Association website (lovely informative website indeed) I dicovered this golden nugget piece of information, and would like to hear the opinion op our members on this (to be honest I like the grey lower hull much more than the hull red lower hull).

"various photo discoveries have changed what was known about the ship at the time these were created...for example, we've uncovered evidence that Hood's forward boat deck was covered with brown corticine linoleum and that her bottom was likely grey rather than red)."

There will be a formal unboxing of the kit this afternoon. This ceremony will be accompanied by a lovely bottle of Nederburg Baronne.
