I am starting on a complete restoration of this ship. I have no information on her at all. From the pictures I have can anyone give me some help on type, century built or country from.
Any suggestions on a method to clean these sails. I looks to me like an English built ship. I'm sure it is not of any real ship but an attempt at a style.
G'day Dave, I think you will find that it is a generic model, the type that was made in the hundreds if not thousands, just for decoration, having said that they can clean up and make a nice display, I've cleaned up a few over the years, I usually take a few pics then strip everything off, the sails and hull I wash with a light mixture of washing up liquid and water, usually all the rigging needs replacing, I will attach a couple of pics of the last one I did, Imade the case and the base board, enjoy renovating your model,
Nice model, any idea how old it is?
I do have something like this with sails and whales of leather. I have got no idea how old it is and always wanted to find out.
