about three years ago, I got tired of sailing ships. That's why I decided to switch to "steamers". I really love the aircraft carrier class of ships :)
At the same time, I became interested in the history of the Battle off Samar 25 october 1944/
The technologies and materials used were the same.
The first to start building an escort aircraft carrier USS Kalinin Bay (CVE-68) from the "TAFFY 3" (1:180)
In combat, the VC-3 air group had 14 FM-2, 1 TBF-1C & 11 TBM-1C

Beautiful build. What ship do you plan to build next? Another CVE from the Leyte Gulf battle, like the Princeton, or something else?

Thank you for rating. I planned the construction of the Japanese "Ryujo" and CVE-30 "Charger". I was looking at the Independence class ships. However I don't have a drawing Body Plane

Very good work on these three models - you show very good, what is possible in scratch building

I am slack jawed amazed. The only thing you need to add is the black boot stripe at the waterline between the red under hull paint and the gray paint above the waterline for the American ships. FYI the CVE's were built on cargo ship hulls, so if you had any desire to build a c3 freighter the hull of the CVE would make a good starting point.

This is good information. Please tell me more exact dimensions. Because I have not seen such black stripes in photographs - both during completion and in service of these ships.
Do you have any more information about tactical aircraft numbers for the VC-3 ? I was able to find some...
Best regards!

What I would do is visit this site https://www.navsource.org/ and click on the escort carriers tab. You may be able to find some images of ships in drydock which would give you some perspective on the width of the boot topping stripe. As a guess assume the boot topping on the real ship is about six feet wide and your model is at a scale of 1:180, this would work out to a stripe on the model of about 0.4 inches wide. Sorry can't help with the aircraft question as I am not an aircraft guy.

Yes, this is a good sate on the American Navy. He helped me a lot during the construction of the CVE and DE Thumbsup
Thank you! )

What is the scale of your beautiful models?
Thank you) All shipmoels in 1:180 scale.

I studied the site earlier https://www.bosamar.com/. That's why I started building CVE-68, after casting lots from six aircraft carriers "Taffy 3". In the beginning, it should have been CVE-66 White Plains.
DE-405 started building by accident. I couldn't find a suitable board for the podium for an aircraft carrier for a long time and thought about an escort (there is still no board, because all ships do not have propellers). Now I thought that both ships should be side by side on the same podium. In the meantime, I'm waiting for a new board for the stand... I started building "Noshiro"

I got a funny story. :D

I have feen fascinated about that battle when I learned of the exploits of the USS Johnson whose captain Ernest Evans immediately sent his small destroyer to face battleships and cruisers. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle off Samar. I built a 1:144 model of the Johnson from the Revell models

It was an incredible battle of Samar . History before and after has never seen anything like this, when weak little baby ships were able to emerge victorious from a large number of huge enemy battleships and cruisers. Russia remembers the heroism of the American allies of that war. If Adm. Sprague, Cap Evans, Cap Robert W. Copeland, Paul H. Carr lived in Russia, avenues and schools would be named after him.

Your shipmodel DD-557 Johnson Thumbsup
