As it was said, the time had come to complete Columbus' fleet and add the missing ship to it.
As is often the case with Heller, the sight of frames with elements does not raise any major objections until we take a closer look at them...
The plastic sails need to be replaced with ones made of canvas. The railings also need to be replaced with wooden ones, as do all the stairs. Heller's ropes are also suddenly being replaced with wooden ones.
Set jufers remind me more of game rings than actual jufers
I am seriously considering deepening the connection of the boards on the deck. I don't have the right tool to do it properly and I don't really know what it should be, but I'll think, maybe I'll be able to do something...
Of course, there will be some barrels on top of all this, maybe some decorations. So there are going to be a lot of changes, so we'll see how I manage to do it.
P.S. I will add that I plan to place the model on a diorama...

"Diorama" may be too strong a word... It's just supposed to be some water and maybe some rock(?) depending on the amount depending on the place

Work on the decks has begun. They are clear because I really cared about them. Pinta has very dark sides, Nina is a little lighter, and I want to make it even lighter in Santa Maria. That's why I wanted the deck to be a light color to maintain the contrast between it and the sides
I painted the decks with 73. 615 Vallejo as a base, the base color was beige 71. 074 Vallejo and finally Raw Umber by van Gogh. The dark edges of the decks and the gratings are painted with Vandyke Brown.
Now I have to wait for it all to dry and highlight the joints of the boards with a dark fineliner. I hope it will be good

I don't really like this artillery, but I console myself with the fact that it will be hidden under the deck, and only the ends of the barrels in the gun ports will be visible.
I also made one of the lifeboats (there will be 2). Here, Heller "forgot" about the oars, so they need to be replaced...
P.S.
I would like to thank you very much for placing my Amerigo Vespucci model in....

......... It is very encouraging and stimulates us to further efforts in this hobby of ours

Sorry for the double photos. I don't know how to fix it, maybe one of the moderators will do it?

The progress may not be great, but I think it is quite visible. I equipped the lifeboats with oars

This is what the capstan set looked like

And this is what it looks like after some minor modifications...

As I wrote earlier, I want to somehow match the color/shade of the SM's hull to the colors of Pinta

The first step has been taken, i.e. 71.074 Vallejo, now I will have to fiddle with the oils to get it as I intend.

By the way, I have prepared a mesh from which I intend to insert bars in the windows

However, in order for it not to be too easy and pleasant, there had to be a problem somewhere... This time it was at the stern...

I am looking for a Santa Maria Caravel Plan, but it must be in PDF format. Can any of my colleagues help me? I would be much obliged

I'm wondering about this... At the ends of the lower deck (these places will be hidden), I tested a very delicate gray filter. I did the same thing on the bow with the left side (a piece to the first vertical beam). And honestly, I don't know which is better: with or without this gray filter... Or maybe change the color of this filter/its intensity?
I'm asking for your opinion, what do you think?

The wall of the aft superstructure... Made of window gratings and door fastening, which will eventually be ajar

P.S. My question about your opinions regarding the gray filter remains valid and I would be very happy if someone expressed such an opinion...

As is often the case with Heller, the railings dividing the decks were forgotten and need to be added. This is a bit of a problem, as I don't have much money. Fortunately, I found remnants of balsa wood in my old supplies and I'll dig it out somehow. The one in the photo is just a sample, but it should turn out something similar
I don't like the stairs in the set, I think they are too massive. Unfortunately, I don't have smaller ones, I don't want to buy them, and I don't have the strength to fight them... I guess they will stay...IMG_20231111_120748.jpg
