I am going to show you a photographic report of one of the jewels of the Spanish Navy. It is the Pantheon of Illustrious Mariners, a mausoleum where distinguished sailors throughout our history are buried, or reminders of some buried elsewhere in our geography. It is a pantheon that houses a large collection of sculptures and reliefs. It is located in the military colony of San Carlos, created by King Carlos III and located in the city of San Fernando, in the province of Cádiz.
As you can see, the main entrance is guarded by two imposing 36-pound cannons, which apparently come from or belonged to the Santísima Trinidad. Inside, its solemnity is overwhelming. There are memories of Christopher Columbus, Magellan, D. Blas de Lezo, hero of the defense of Cartagena de Indias against the British, Federíco Gravina, and countless commanders of ships and aviators of the Navy.
At the end of the visit, as you can see in the images, there is a pool, which is filled with the waters of all the oceans and seas of the earth brought from all corners by the midshipmen who perform their training voyage on the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano.
