I caution all new model builders attempting any of theses ship model to read, then read again and before you glue read once more! You will appreciate the build more if you don’t have to take apart or try to fix something that could have been avoided just by reading the instructions just one more time to understand it! Building boats are new to me but I’ve been build models since I was 5 years old, yeah wasn’t the greatest and it was called the glue mobile by my uncle! I’m on step seven and already read the instructions like 4-5 times to grasp what I’m about to do!
I do feel I’ve learned a lot building the Dory, and right off the bat I’m learning even more 7 steps in!
I felt I needed to make sure of the alignment in the building jig so I measured and marked for straight and true! I then build and sanded the transoms bow and stern. Then I took the keel and bottom planks and before gluing I secured them with rubber bands and wet both side’s, then went to work, then once home the bend was naturally there and won’t stress the build!
more pics of progress to come

This build is definitely more intense as it builds on knowledge from the previous kit in the series, but going slow and being alert of what you are doing will help to move forward! I did look to the internet for pictures and diagrams of a real pram construction, as how the keel and hull planks are done on a real one! Starting at the bow transom the left and right bottom planks just about kiss each other then the keel plank sits on top of both of them. Not to say it was all smooth sailing ⛵️ but I did manage to push forward! I did have to add some wood on the rear transom and rear transom knee as I might have sanded too much off. All in all it’s working out! Now off to work till tonight and I can get another step in! Here are some progress pics!

Very different planking process on the Pram, but I think things are moving slowly forward and soon I’ll be able to set it free of the building jig!

Sanded down the sealer coat inside and out! Then I put some paint on her then I could lay down the floor boards and start fitting her out!

Excellent work. I really think you have done those bevels superbly well - a skill that will come in very useful when planking models in general. As a result your planking is looking good and very authentic looking. Keep up the good work!

I have done all 3 in the Model Shipways Shipwright 3 Kit as my learning curve as I am only starting my 6th month into this.

Was a great learning tool for me. I am happy with how they turned out!

Your Norwegian Sailing Pram looks good.

All the best
