Navy Academy Museum, Annapolis, MD - March 2023

Thanks so much for posting these photos. That was some of the most spectacular modeling I have ever seen!
Steve

Hi @Uwek let me know which models you are interested in, I will visit the museum in two weeks :)

@Steven B is the Culver Sovereign of the Seas still on display. I am highly interested in this model and hope it is still on display.
Lucky you - you are in the States and visit the museum  and you can see these amazing models of the collection.....

I would be interested in these two models I mentioned in post #26

The Bonhomme with views from both sides (different gunports and armament) and the horizontal cut model - Please ..... would be great

Hi Uwe,

I will post all my pictures soon, but see here the ones requested. If you are ever visiting the DC region you have to go there. Ps bring a handkerchief as you definately start drooling. :)
See below the split model.

Many Many Thanks my friend for these photos - it is very interesting to see, how the modeler solved some details.

Split model:
I was very surprised to see, that the outside of the lower hull part was not build with frames, but covered by some cardboard or similar
So this seems to be a POB and not a POF model
Bonhomme Richard:
great to see both sides - with this the information given by Jean Boudriot in his monograph with the changes of the armament (and gunports) is clearly visible
In my opinion a very good idea to show the same ship in different periods

Great photos - once more many thanks

Being such an accomplished modeler I am curious to see what caught your eye.
If you are walking into the candy store you are overwhelmed by all the beautifull goodies on offer, then you allways forget what you came for.
But I came for the Culver SotS and here it is.
I want to use it for my own build of SotS somewhere in the future. My wife says I have to become over 100 to full fill all my plans, I guess she is right :).

A pity the Sovereign model was placed in a dark corner

Many Thanks for sharing with us these photos of a very spectacular model.
Interesting to see, that it is really prominent and amazing caused by the ornaments, which are made by metal cast plates but not single small elements (you can recognize the joint between two plates at the stern joining the side) - but looking great
The main task was the ornaments, but less details on the "wooden" work of the model, like hull planking, gratings, fixing of anchors etc.
A very interesting model
