Today was "Duizel"-day, which saw 29, minus a few last minute unfortunate cancelations, Belgian and Dutch shipwrights showing the fruits of their labor in public.
For those who couldn't or wouldn't come, a missed opportunity, for sure.
The people I met were amongst others, and now running the risk of forgetting some names, Jan Zwart, obvious, Maarten, Pétr, Peter (Voogt), Henk (Liebre), Hans (Kolderstok)...
Models on display were amongst others the Victory, the Alert, the Bounty, the Friesland, WB'S expedition ship, the Batavia, the Zeven Provinciën, of course the Bluenose, the BB Viking ship, the Kamper Kogge, Chinese jonks, a sailing Black Pearl....
The craftmanship and enthousiasm of the builder's present was almost tangible, unfortunately the number of exhibitions may have outnumbered the number of visitors, due to reasons unknown.
At noon lunch was provided by the NVM, the Dutch Society of Model builders, free of charge, and there was ample time to exchange experiences and ideas with fellow builders.
Below a couple of impressions of today, if @Maarten, @Ptèr, @Kolderstok, @Peter Voogt and @Henk Liebre have anything to add, please feel free to do so.
From left to right; Henk's Bluenose, my Bluenose, followed by Peter assembling his Bluenose and the bow of his R.E. Lee.
Carrying in the goods and assembly continues...
On the foreground Maarten's Alert, with in the background two Frieslands.
Jan Zwart's Victory, what a model!
General impression, with Chinese jonks in the foreground.
To some of us a very well known little gem; Willem Barentsz expedition ship. (@Heinrich)
Maarten and Henk discussing the ins and outs of the Alert.
