Mary Celeste build from the Matthew Turner kit

Hi jek,

The kit, (From Modelers Shipyard in Australia), quality is beyond excellent. All parts are pre-numbered, or bag labeled. and coordinated to the instruction book. Yes, a bound book with highly detailed procedures, drawings and photos!
The wood is strong and clear. As I am modifying this build to create the Mary Celeste, I am making changes as I go. The bow on the Matthew Turner is rounded. The bow is going to present a challenge, but I plan to re-cut the stem to produce a sharper clipper bow profile and extend the planking to match????
Any suggestions appreciated.
Working on the frames now.

Looking like a very interesting kit - looking good - seems that you have a lot of fun with this kit

Thru snowstorms and coastal flooding, the shipyard kept working:
Started deck detail, with alterations. Since the Mary Celeste was a cargo ship, I had to fabricate the main and forward hatches. The Main cabin had to be shortened.
and both the main and galley cabins relocated to accommodate the hatches. I used my best guess for the location of these from various painting and pictures of the Mary Celeste. Binnacle, wheel and catheads installed.

Good afternoon. Wow she is coming out beautifully. Cheers Grant

Continuing on, putting the hours in. I get started and lose tract of time.(oops)
Re located the galley house after seeing several examples of the Mary C. both in models and pictures/drawings. Following the instruction book steps, have completed much deck detail. Also added details not kit included such as the galley stove smoke pipe and stern lazzartette hatch. Fabricated hatch pulls with brass rings and copper wire. Between the history and mystery of this ship and the challenges of converting, it is so satisfying and fun!
In process of fabricating masts now.......
