yes i have been there several times a good museum to visit

I have been there a few times and sailed on Lake Erie on the Niagara twice. Amazing to help raise the sails and hear the story of the battle around Put-In-Bay. They had a large new made replica of the side of a ship that they have fired at with original 1812 cannon. Interesting to see the damage done! The Niagara is not there all the time as it travels to different sailing events.

Erie is one of those formerly prosperous towns that has great "bones" and is trying to work its way back. The area is beautiful. I got to tour the Niagra and the ship is fantastic. The story of the battle and the building of the fleet is amazing. From both sides! The view across the lake from the park that is out on the end of Presque Isle is beautiful. I'd say go. Sara's at Coyne's Park is a fun stop.
