Hi All.
Decided to post my build of H.M.S. Granado by Victory Models. The kit was purchased many years ago and gathered dust at different stages of construction.

The main reasons for these delays were the instructions and the lack of building logs for this specific kit. This is my first ship kit, and despite some experience in plastic scale model building, it was challenging to progress.

I believe that the overall kit quality is good, except for the 2 mm walnut plywood that splits into parts when cutting.

The Tanganika timber strips where to thin 0.5 mm , it was hard to glue black paper to them. It was also hard to find the thin paper for this porpoise:

During the build I found "The Anatomy Of The Ship" and decided to add some detail improvements to deck planking:

I had some complications with Caldercraft mat lacquer that I tried to use. For the hull exterior, I opted for "Flood" outdoor wood oils. They have a few nice colors, so I also used them to paint the masts.

Now I am close to start rigging. I tried to use the kit blocks but they are too ugly with displaced holes. Order pear blocks from drydockmodelsandparts.com to replace them.

First of all a warm welcome here on board of our forum
Very good work so far on your Granado - and many thanks to start the building log
Refering the tackle of the tiller:
I do not have my Anatomy book with me, but it this tackle not shown in detail? The drawing you show, I guess, is from the kit, or?

More and more thinking about this - I think, that in the Anatomy is not any tackle shown - it was maybe without

I couldn't find anything else in the books. You'd have to look in your documents. I'm curious about this solution myself. I just found something like this.

Correct (with a latch at the tiller) - and the other following version was maybe earlier used

but with this the helmsman would need some other seaman to oen an fix the endings of the ropes

On smaller ships

Thank you Uwek. I also didn't find anything helpful in anatomy. But, occasionally i found this log completed by Rawen:
It's looks like the same implementation on your picture:

Very nice looking build. Great level of detail

Hi guys, first of all thank you!
Wanted to share my small progress. Somehow construction of the stay mouse become a challenge for me.
I tried few different approaches and ended up with this:

After few failures I succeeded to achieve an acceptable result, still the end of the mouse is too thick I think. May be with another type of rope the result will be better.

Now I have to build another four, and they should be smaller...

Dear Maksym
the mouse looks great Thumbsup
I saw your H.M.S. Granado in the last Friday, and I have to say that the pictures do a little injustice to the model you created which in reality looks amazing in quality. Well done my friend :)
