Commissioned in 1830 at the Navy Yard in Amsterdam and launched in 1832.
Training ship Urania (1) was intended for crusades on the Zuiderzee with the midshipmen of the Institute in Medemblik. The corvette was used for this purpose until 1851, in which year she became a boarding ship in Rotterdam. Later exercise battery in Willemsoord. Then in 1868 a new “URANIA” was renamed “ASTREA”.
Inspired by the books 'Ships in Miniature' by Lloyd McCaffery and 'Navy Board Model' by Philip Reed.
Decided to take a small ship to see how it goes in 1/75.
Using plans of the Netherlands National Archive.
