Built 1912, commissioned 1914,, the only battleship that participated in WW I and WW II. Towed yesterday from its wet birth at the San Jacinto battleground site on the Houston Ship Channel to shipyard in Galveston for a much needed $38,000,000.00 restoration. Mounting 8 14" guns in four turrets, it still looks a formidable warship today. Photo taken from near the Galveston Yacht basin. It's to end up in a dry birth (not yet funded) -- in Galveston somewhere.

Must have been a site to see. As the last of her kind, it is fantastic that she is being restored rather than scrapped, particularly with the all issues over recent years. Placing her into a dry berth will ensure future generations continue to share this amazing part of naval history.
