I do believe it's 1930Sierra Hotel!
May I inquire as to the year of manufacture for the actual car the model represents?
It was all supplied in the kit I just had to find an original motor I think the first two boxings had the gearingIt's older than I am so that's going back a few years. Nice looking model but how do you 'motorize' such a model?
.... by M. Bugatti I believe. His creations were a total contrast to Mr Bentley's, and much more evocative of racing cars of that era.A model of, as it was called humorously at the time, "The world's fastest lorry!". I built one in 1972. Nice kit.
I built this in 1974 as a self-imposed wedding present. No comments please.I brought this one as a spares or repair but it was complete and being a first issue I could motorised it and I have also I have added lighting View attachment 393374View attachment 393375View attachment 393376View attachment 393377View attachment 393378
Listed in the 1973 argos catalogue at £3.50I built mine in the '70s, the kit then cost somewhere between £6 - £8 ! Now £90 ish?
WOW! Now THAT'S inflation!Listed in the 1973 argos catalogue at £3.50
and a weeks rent for a bed-sit was 5pounds. a pint of newcastle brown was 2/-. All relative.Listed in the 1973 argos catalogue at £3.50
I guess someone has to pay 'Parent Companies' to buy out the 'broke' ones. I did read that Hornby were in trouble? The prices Airfix charge for all their older issues are exorbitant...pure profiteering.
The capital investment would have been returned DECADES ago.
Some of these kits became rare, the company seems to charge the inflated prices being asked.
Being re-issued wipes away the rarity value, unless you desperately want the original boxing.
If you gotta get one then you have to get one.
This sucker ain't sucking.
