Hi. I'll be putting the Scale Decks wood veneer on my model. What's the best way to sand the original plastic decks down to prepare for gluing? By hand? Has anyone used a Dremel tool for sanding? Any help is appreciated.

Hello, do you have a picture of the deck? I would sand it down with not too fine emery paper, by hand. You have more feeling there.

I agree with Wolle. Do this by hand, making up a small sanding block will help. The decks are thin, using a dremel would be to harsh! I use a x-acto blade also to scrape off the lines. That is all you want to do to get a flat surface, just get the lines out to get a smooth surface for wood deck adhesion.

scraping the surface will work for the most areas - and sanding by hand
with Dremel will be also problemativ, because there could be the possibility, that the plastic could melt partly......

I can imagine, that the Proxxon Pensander could also work on some area
