I am in the final stages of designing a kit for the deck structures for a large-scale R/C boat. One of the fun things of using good software, is that you can add part numbers and all sorts of other information about each part you design. These properties will go in the Bill of Materials and the Cut List later, when the project goes to manufacturing. Apart from flat parts, good software can also allow you to create bent parts, such as the outsides of the cabin and the cockpit, that will then be presented correctly to the laser.

This model of the deck parts for Ranger includes three types of birch plywood parts; 1/8" for the structure; 1/16" in order to make some parts more to scale; 1/32" for the parts that need to be bent around the structural components.
