Has anyone knowledge if there is a kit of the Y2 Papanikolis. The WWII submarine? If it is available I cannot locate it. It is a Katsonis classs sub of French manufacture, built before 1935. Any help is appreciated. The conning tower is on display at the naval museum in Greece.

I am not aware of any, but there is a 3D model of it, so maybe there is a chance to print it.

Kazziiga,
Thank you for your advice. The site looks promising. I have consulted with a colleague who has a 3D printer and is willing to produce it for me if I can acquire the 3D model program. It I has been difficult trying to find detailed plans online.
As a child, my father was near Pireas during WW II and heard about this famous sub and its exploits. He would tell these stories to my brother and I with great excitement. Hope I can make acquiring and building this model a reality.

I tried also to make some research and found nothing directly.
Maybe to make some additional research in frenhc language, due to the fact that this submarine was a french construction based on the 600 series, so your sub had french sisters.
Maybe there is a french producer specialist for resin models ....... just an idea

Hi. According Gr sources it was a "SCHNEIDER – LEUBEUT" or "Katsoni (sister ship) class type of sub and similar to "Circe" French type of submarines. The difference was on the conning tower in order to fit the base of the 100mm gun for Katsonis and Papanikolis.
This detail is in the Gr text of the link. See no 14 of the references inside the text.

Thx

Thannasis,
Thank you. I have searched my sources for each of the French subs in that class, yet have located only a lone drawing and limited technical details. I thought I had located a model of the Thetis, only to realize that it was a Royal Navy ship of the same name. Hopefully a solution will come from of your, and all the others, kind efforts. Again my thanks to all.

good morning AER3393, maybe I have the project of the bastion you are looking for but, it is not possible for me these days to send it to you, reason I am on vacation and return ine month, if you can wait OK. It is an original shipyard project, let me know.Frank

Frank,
Yes, I would appreciate seeing if your project would help me with mine. Please let me know when you are back from your vacation. I am in the preliminary stages of planning this, so no rush. Thank you.

Frank,
Hope all is well with you. In the past, we have discussed my desire to begin construction of the Papanikolis (Y-2). If you have the time, could you send the information you spoke of on your project? I thank you in advance for your help.
My father often told stories of the success of this submarine during the war. (He said that the commander of the submarine had so many medals that the dock could not support him!) My father lived in Palio Faliron. I have an Averof to build and hope that, with your assistance, I can place the Papanikolis beside her one day soon. Thanks again.
