Despite living in the heart of "cutter country" l have been unable to source any drawings for this vessel, she was the largest of the cutters and worked out of Barry and Newport,l was fortunate to have been part of her crew on one momentous occaision!!!,l am now looking for the needed drawings/plans etc to allow me to build her in model form,l have been able to locate lots of photographs of her,but no sign of even a set of lines drawings or (prefferably) a scale plan,so,if anyone can help move my project forward please can you make contact??,thanks in advance.jack.

have you tried srmbc.org, Allan Reade, Mascotte cutter? He has done a scale build based on plans so should be able to offer advice? Allan's model is based on a plastic 1:16 pilot cutter hull from Kingston Mouldings. I don't know whether this is true to Mascotte's hull?1712492160067.png

Sad news. He built Mascotte from plans so there are some somewhere. There are pilot cutter plans on google images, I've got a few downloads but they need drawing to scale of course. You could possibly find similar to Mascott unless you're going for total authenticity?
I was planning to scratch build but I've decided on HM Rev. cutter Skylark instead. I reckon I have enough in the pipeline for now! But thanks.
On images, you'll have to wade through them, there's a company that sells plans for about a tenner, I can't remember their name I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure they do a cutter.

Hi bob, mascotte was the biggest of the cutters at 60ft long,l am still searching,to my knowledge there are no actual model plans in existence, but l cannot understand why l cant find her lines drawings, these are availiable for lots of the other cutters but not for mascotte, seems wierd somehow,if l can ever locate lines drawings for her, l will draw up a set of plans for the model and make them availiable on this and other sites,l have made contact with TOMMI NIELSEN AT GLOUCESTER DOCKS her in the uk,she used to over winter there and receive any maintenance needed,so l am hoping this might prove successful,Tony Winter used to own her but l dont know who has her now,all the best, jack.

I am trying to locate plans for Tiara, an 1850 but boat that looks very much like a Brisrol Cutter. Whe was 45 frrt long and 10 foot beam. I would like to do a scratch build but the only photos that I have are not really clear enough

its entirely possible that TIARA was built from a half model by a boatyard chosen by the prospective owner,in which case drawings of her probably dont exist, this was/is the case for a lot of the bristol cutters,do you have any pictures of her out of the water??,if so,you can probably work up a drawing to build from using that,it wont be exactly right, but better than nothing!!!

I have a drawing of the Tiara in the water. The encyclopedia of sport states that had she been entered into the first "America's Cup" she would surely have won. Tharer were 4 vessels made by William Simons, one of them was the Partrige.

the pictures you have uploaded-inparticular the half model-are enough to produce some working drawings,l assume you know the basic major dimensions of her,use these to work out what scale the pictures are,you can then lift other dimensions from the pics, not an accurate method l know, but may be all you have, any idea as to the location of the half model???,that would be the ideal,as thats how the full size would have been built, good luck!!!!

The half model is located at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club in Scottland. Unfortunately I am in Canada.
I appreciate your recommendations. I do have the hull drawings for a more modern cutter with similar dimensions, which I will Tyr to adapt. Should be a fun project. I 'll let you know how she works out.

The records show that the Tiara was 45 feet long and 10 feet wide, no mention of whether the 45 feet is overall length or waterline. If the measurement is of waterline then the overall would be about 53 feet but a 10 foot beam might seem a little small. I have some plans of another Briston channel pilot cutter . This one has a 13 foot beam and is 53feet overall and 44 waterline.
I am inclined to think the 45 foot length of the Tiara is overall length with a shorter waterline. Any comments?
