Every aspect of this build poses it's own challenges, the windlass is no exception to the rule.
Redo's are also more rule than exception. This redo shows how the model's appearance may get a boost from a well thought out and performed redo. Thumbsup

Completed today what I was dreading making, and what turned out to be not so bad
As usual, changed a bit As usual, and the cordage made white

Mounted
Backrope and Bobstay's , Peter followed his advice to do this with thicker rope
De Guy attached with slightly thinner rope
( I hope the above the names are correct)

Good morning Henk. I have to agree with your earlier post- the Dutch seem to have the ability to produce fine model ships. Catching up a little with your build- excellent work with all the tiny details on this BN. Cheers Grant

I am very happy to see that you are making good and solid progress, Henk. I think the windlass and its assorted mechanicals look very convincing and authentic. Here's to a very successful build!

Already done some previous tests to bend the dead eyes with brass of different thicknesses
The thick and broke off, no success
Got pieces of wire from Peter as a test and that worked a bit better

Ordered wire for Johan and myself with a thickness of 3.5 mm in the colors black and brown

Blemen wire on a roll 100 meters very flexible and the cut and did not break off
This was the Eureka moments for me

Put a bolt through it and tighten the nuts, all this on a black cloth.
Everything made matte black on the irons that are turned on a needle in my vices and the production can be started.
This is very easy

I don't blacken dead eyes, I still have trouble painting beautiful wood.

Regards
Henk

What Henk wrote: works like a charm. Current experience: eyes with an ID of 1,8mm.

Those deadeyes and chainplates; stuff for nightmares, but with a little help from your friends...
