I have rigged the tiller on the Discovery1789 as in the picture. I was going to put another tensioning block and tackle on the other side of the tiller and then it occurred to me that it isn't really necessary. One tackle would tension the whole thing. Of course now I can't find the picture of the rigging that I got this from. Can anyone advise me if there was usually tackle on both sides of the tiller? Meanwhile I'll keep looking

I found it on page 137 of Goodwin's "Man of War". It was called "tensioning tackle" and it looks like there was a set of tackle on each side of the tiller. Darn, I was hoping I wouldn't have to strop more blocks so soon. I guess I should get used to it, there's lots more to come:)
