Hello, since I intend to get and build a heller 1/100 soleil royal (with their concorde at the same scale from 1965, planning on doing it in the livery of one of the airlines who ordered it, still hesitating wich one) for my birthday, I started doing research on the ship and I noticed the stern carving is often interpreted differently, I wonder why, sometimes, it'll be full gold, sometimes with some blue and the shape of the sculpture will be different too.

One with a full blue livery (my choice or my what if soleil royal, I haven't seen much models being done with it too)

What heller provide (I'll correct the bouteille innacuracie as best as I can):

Thanks for your answers, I'm laying the terrain so I'll know what to do when I'll start it.

Do you know the building log of Marc alias @Hubac’s Historian ?
He is discussing and describing the form and content etc. of the complete ornaments, also the stern in detail

I think the red color might be( I'm not100% sure) inspired by the look of Saint Philippe ).Uwe linked you a thread with much more information and competent people

@GuyM has been also modyfying heller kit

Thanks, by the way, the models look gorgeous, I think both red and blue soleil royal look good as well as "Le sain philippe".

I find the question of how to model extensive ship decorations the most difficult and intimidating aspect of my ship modeling. I do not have 3D printers or equivalents, mainly because I am not good at developing the 3D cad files required. My sculpting skills are less than adequate. So I end up depending on the kit deco or aftermarket add-ons. The limitation of the aftermarket deco sets include being limited to the most popular models (can I say the Victory as an example?) and the popular kit scales. If you want to scratch build, say a 1/48 scale Confederacy you can not find a deco set to fit your model. Cost is also a factor but the aftermarket deco sets I have seen are worth the prices without quibbling. I know that there are companies that offer such deco sets but I think we need to set up a library of the websites so we can recommend them. I try to bookmark the one’s I come across but I think I miss many. I can only admire those extremely talented ship modelers who can carve such exquisite ship decorations for their models.

The issues for me being cost, the soleil royal heller already cost a lot of money itself so it's even worst with the aftermarket (I'll still get material to carve the ornament/Sculpture)
