Good evening fellow ship modelers. I am an 83 year old retiree with a primary interest in maritime history and modeling workboats of the Chesapeake Bay. As a former resident of St. Michaels, Maryland, which is the home of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, I gained first hand on board knowledge of many of the classic workboats used in oyster and crab harvesting. I've built models of a Chesapeake Bay "Buyboat", a "Hooper Island Draketail" and am currently rigging a "Skipjack", which is a sail powered oyster dredge boat that once numbered over 2000 registrations back in the early 1900's hundreds. I am also a U. S. Navy veteran and served aboard a guided missile frigate (USS Preble DLG-15) during the early years of the Vietnam War.
I would welcome and look forward to hearing from any Ships of Scale member who has a similar modeling interest. I currently reside in Aiken, SC. USA
