I started getting interested in building model ships after I retired last October. I joined a men's shed here in Sydney, Australia. There is a person who makes kids toys to sell at markets to raise funds for the men's shed, as do all the trades people. The person who makes the toys has made a Viking ship his own way with no plans at all. So I wanted to make a model Viking ship from scratch and not a kit one. I am doing a lot of research on how to do it and also finding information on Youtube carpenters how to make inexpensive workshop machines made out of timber and power tools built onto them, I am digressing too much and I apologise for that. I, too, am a tradesperson who worked as a fitter and turner and welder using metal, but I always loved working with timber as well and making things. But found this site and find it very interesting with the builds that have been showcased here and hope to start a build when my workshop is complete shortly.
