I found a drakkar model kit on Amazon from crown models. It looks like it is the same as the amati kit of the same. Does anyone know if they are infact the same?

No!
It is a Chinese knock off. The Keel is hard board not wood. The instructions are Chinese, only English language on this kit is on the box stating "museum quality".
Avoid this purchase......

I think I will go with Amati's kit. I like the dragon figure head. The person I will be making this for is not going for totally historic more for decorative purposes.
