Still not every member knows our interesting group builds of scratch where we also share the experiences in very interesting Building logs.
In moment we have three scratch builds running in our group builds - so if you are interested, please visit also these building logs on regular basis
HMS BLANDFORD
launched 13.th February 1720, a 20-gun frigate, was one of the first ships of all together 22 frigates which were built based on the so called 1719 Establishment
The Blandford project sole purpose is ONLY for educational purposes and is not meant to be an endeavor on building a perfectly scaled model, however, it you wish to divulge in that, it is solely up to you to do the proper research and your own workbench. The sole purpose of the (BCSGB) is aimed towards the beginner in mind, but seasoned modelers are welcome too.
The Blandford was chosen as a base example of a "typical" cross section for educational and experimentation purposes. The main purpose is to teach model ship builders the techniques and basic practices of building admiralty style frames, decking, etc.

CANOE
The construction of the canoe is based on a somewhat modified hull design using a detailed and illustrated 68-page step-by-step guide: including 100+ colour photos): but it does look like a canoe (as seen in the introduction image). You may build exactly what is presented, but you also have the option of letting your imagination take over at some point … really, the sky is the limit, and this canoe can become your own personal piece of art.
This built is a fairly “simple” project. It is a good first time experience in model building from wood, but is also a fun project for the more experienced builder. Even the scratch builder or someone who want to take a short break from their current build.
The guide includes some ideas / options to make it a much more involved build, needing some extra material for features such as simulating fastenings, etc.. material readily available from most hobby shops.

The framework is relatively simple, but yet when you plank it you can make it as elaborate as you want. By adding the correct width of planking, and cheater planks, hook scarf joints and fasteners this would make a nice looking model. The other advantage one would have with this is more practice in planking.
