Hi everyone.
I have been building models for over 50 years.
Some of you will know of a bit of my work. Endeavour model in Karl Marquardt's book and the schooner for port Jackson for Modellers Central.
Current projects are Danmark. A model started by someone who has unfortunately parted this earth. (I get emo about this as there are thousands of projects unfinished for the same sad reason) Also working on plans of Mathew Flinder's Investigator. Too many finished to list.

A warm welcome! Interesting to read about your Danmark model. Parts of my workshop and reference books are actually gifts I got as gifts from a friend towards the end of his life. Makes for a strong connection to the tools and books!

Welcome aboard. Would be interestedto hear a little more about your model of Danmark
Hi Poul.
It's a Billings bashed kit.
I was given it as a partly planked hull. I decided to build it as she is today. Mostly from that point it's scratch built.
Rigging plans needed to be researched so I have drawn them. Facebook is good to get details from posted pics.
Here are some more pics.

Hi Sjokapten.
Yes it does. I often think what will happen to some of the models I have here. especially the unfinished ones. You see all to often someone pour their heart and soul into a model only to be thrown away after they pass on. I find it very sad. I didn't know the person who started this "Danmark" but I hope he is getting as much pleasure seeing it completed as I am.
Allan.

What frightens me the most is that when I pass on to the happy hunting ground my wife will sell all my hobby gear for what I told her I paid for it
This reminds me of an old joke. An old Scotts lady places an obituary for her husband in the local paper. As she hasn't got much money the message is short."john Reid of Glasgow died" The editor feels sorry for her and tells her to add a few words for free. she then adds 'Ford Escort for sale.

Speaking about obituaries. I see you are from Germany. My prejudice about German humor changed dramatially when I read this death announcement in a German newspaper:

Rough translation:
After a very hard and torturous life Mr. Josef Leidner finally found his peace on 15th of April 2019

The funeral of his wife Mathilde will take place on Friday 19th of April at 2 PM in the main cemetery

Welcome Allan, from a fellow Victoria- I saw your post as I was about to do my intro one.

Will be great to see your builds here, they're always amazing - you Supply was lovely.

Good luck with the Investigator, it's a nice ship. Have you seen the one at the ANMM in Sydney?

Darren

Hi Darren.
I have but it's been a while.
There is a model of mine in the ANMM.
It's a half hull of an east Indiaman

Hi again Darren.
There are a few models of Investigator around.
I think a lot of them are erroneous.
The navy bought and re purposed a few colliers. Endeavour, Bounty, Adventure and Xenophon. Colliers had quarter badges (windows) not stern galleries.
The navy would not have wasted funds converting them to galleries.
G C Ingleton concedes in his investigation of various plans and models that Investigator would not have had galleries.
The snapshot above is of my reconstruction from first principals.
I am sure it will invoke some discussion.

Also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum
It would be very interesting to see your actual projects much more in detail, so f.e we would be happy to see the Denmark in a building log - you can easily start from the actual status
BTW: Your east indiaman is looking very good - do you have more photos of this model - You will see, that we are very interested and also curious .....

The East Indiaman was built 25 years ago for NMM. I don't have too many photos of it.
I also built Shamrock 5 for Liptons which used to be in the Liptons Cafe at the NMM

Hi Alan,

That East Indiaman is lovely. Sure I've seen it on my visits.

I'm sure your work on the Investigator will be outstanding, and will be great to see it coming together. I believe it was the collier Xenophon before being transferred to naval service? The one at the ANMM was based on it after some work was done in Sydney in 1802. But as you said, no stern galleys or ornamentation.

I have some sketches and notes on it if you're interested, a couple shown below of deck plans (although not sure if it did have the shown deck houses?). Happy to provide what I have which includes a few pages from a book describing Xenophon and Investigator.

Hi Darren.
Thanks I would like to see any information on Investigator.
I do have the 2 deck plans of her. I have used them in my reconstruction. Although there are some inconsistencies between them when trying to incorporate them into an actual hull construction.
