Now you see this is exactly the problem, the Hinge Family don't live here anymore, they have moved to NSW, and now reside with a chap called Mr G Wood, some call him Peglegreg,

Well I like to keep everyone happy so here goes, I checked with the AOTship book and they only show the two windows on each end with hinges,

I hammered a pin into a piece of wood, and then bent some of the copper strip from the kit around it

Then nipped the strip tight on itself, took the pin out and CA glued the strip to itself, making sure not to get any
glue in the hole made by the pin.

Shows two on one pin and the start of another set on the pin below, the success of this is to get the strip nice
and tight around the pin, like the second pin

so I glued the four middle skylights down as per the AOT ship book, and left the two outside ones on each side open

Thank you Brian, for your comments, I'm sure you will not be disapointed with the RC kit,

well I thought before I do anything else topside I should finish the painting of the hull and all the carvings that go
under the transom.
these carvings come as one length and you have to cut them in middle so a carving can go on each side, also these
carvings are very thick and the surfaces they attach to are very rounded, see last two pics, I decided to do what
Maarten had done and cut the lower rail away from the figures, the carving on the left is still intact and the other
has been separated, these are just sitting on the planking not glued yet.

section through the carving after trimming with a craft knife and sanding on a disc sander, they sit in place nicely now.

I glued the lower rails in place, and put the carvings away till after the painting is done,
I have started cutting out the hole for the rudder to go up through.

Well I gave the hull a good sandpapering and another coat of paint, then I turned my attention
to the area just behind the quarter gallery windows

Adjusting one of the carvings for fit, there is a lot of cutting and adjusting

first up you have to make a framework, as in the next pic, these are the parts that you use, have to make one for
each side.

transom view, the balcony frameworks will be waxed in situ, the other figures will be waxed off the model,
there are also a pair of dolphins that go above the figures.

It looks like a lot of work for s SMALL area.
But there is one small thing that I noticed. Should the lady be more vertical than you have it. It mate an optical illusion.

dolphins into the transom and secured then with the bras pins that were provided

I drilled a series of 2mm holes big enough to take the sheave, and cleaned up the hole with a small file

I found that the sheave was as wide as the frame, and even with putting the sheave right to one side of the frame,
see sheave and frame on the right of pic, it would be hard to get a rope through, so as the sheaves were going to
be glued in place I decided to file a bit off one end of the pulley, see pic on the left, and then this would give more
room for the rope to go through

The back sheave is glued in place showing how it will be easier to get a rope through, while the front sheave is
just sitting in place to show what I mean about how hard it would be without filing the pulley down

In the end I decided to cut the aft part of the quarter deck out and place the new part in level with the rest of the deck

I cut it out square and also took the side and transom pieces out as well

then I glued in a piece of ply to the underneath of the forward section of the deck, and also a piece of wood to
either side of the bulwarks under the deck as support
