Also, we encourage everybody whos mother language not English or not writing and speaking English to start using Google translator or just start posting on their own language and one of the admins will translate and update the post to English.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to participating! This is a return to ship model building for me. When I was a boy, my father, who was an officer in the US Navy, was an avid model ship builder. I sat with him as he built the Revell 1/96 USS Constitution, learning as much as I could, between the cursing and tears of failing his way to success on his first attempt. That model was severely damaged in a family move, so I was lucky to see the fruits of his lessons when he built it a second time, along with several wooden ships over the years. I built my first model at age 11, the Charles W. Morgan whaling vessel, under his watchful eye. He is no longer with us, but for my return to modeling after many years away, I have decided to build the Revell 1/96 USS Constitution in his honor. No doubt I will need some tips and support along the way, so I will post a build log and am excited to be a part of this forum. Thanks for having me!

Hi All, Thank you for the warm welcome.
I guess you would like to know a bit about me? ...or maybe not.:)
I live in Sydney (Desperately trying to get out). I have been modelling ships for some time. I took a 5 year break from the craft because of the responsibilities of bringing up 2 boys who were (and are) like two massive syringes that suck the hours out of my days.
But recently I have had the urge to dust off my artisan table and go back to what I enjoy the most.
I have built mostly ships from Kits but also dabbled in miniature ship building thanks to Bob Wilson's manuals.
I really, really enjoyed that process tremendously and it gave me the greatest satisfaction of any ship I built in the past.
Now that I've got a bit more time on my hands (as I don't need to drive the kids to their activities) I have been looking at the next steps as far as ship modelling is concerned.
The CAF/ZHL model builds on this site have impressed me tremendously and I was looking at them as a natural step between kits and scratch. But the price of those kits have left me trying to recover my balance. Oh well, we can only dream.

One thing that I must say is that (compared to the 'other' site) there is a more open forum here where self interest and national and personal commercial fervour plays a much smaller role. Thank you for that.
