Hi everyone! I was recently offered the original?sovereign of the seas by sergal for about 450dollars.
What is scaring me a littlebit is the fittings. I dont have any carving or sculpting skills so this is a littlebit important to me. The bad instructions i can overcome i think.
The photo clearly shows there is some slots that looks like they are supposed to contain some fittings, however they are not there.
Is the kit supposed to come like this or is it actually missing something?
The seller says the sealing on the pack is not broken and everything is like it should be. Is this correct?

Oh! And let me add that i would love to buy the zhl version instead. But without masts and rigging, plus the expensive price its a littlebit out of reach

This is a very old version of the kit, I think. The newer version had laser scribed deck planks so that there was no planking to be done when the decks were put on. Some of the problems that thinks did not fit correctly in the old verion was corrected in the revised version, but the rigging plans got worse. Every inination in the felt o above shoud have a piece in it. I had a problem with some pieces needed also and had with staff at agesofsail try to get things resolved. The staff at Mantua is unskilled and even sending pictures to show the parts that were needed and showing where it was missing did not help. I knew what was missing and how man to get, but the people there even sent items that were not never a part of the kit and after almost a year of different attempts, it became useless and cost a lot with postage, etc. to get junk and no resolution to some of the pieces. I even ordered the entire set of fitting from Amati that was their dicontinued version of the SOS s the same scale. This solved a few of the problems and was used to replace some of the wrong parts that was in the Mantua version. The Amati set cost me $400 and corrected some problems. but working withMantua was almost totally useless. OI this tray is the only one you got, you have very little of the almost 700 castingd that go with the Mantua kit. The tray you show is only a for one wide of the back part of the ship. There should be one for the other side. Theree are a lot for the back of the ship, a lot more for the side of the ship and a lot more for the front of the ship.

Ok thank you guys for the input. I dont think im buying the kit. Its really too much that screams allot of problems and many hours of headache with it.
Ive seen them built and they look really amazing when they are done, but it has been put allot of work in them.
Work i am not ready for.

I have not seen anyone buy the Chinese kit either since it is expensive. Nor have I seen any one mentioned if the carvings are right or if it is just another version with all numerous errors and incorrect carvings like all the other kits on the market.
