Share with us any image, or description, that could lend itself to becoming a SOS diorama.
Please NO images of already built dioramas.
This thread is solely inspirational. It is hoped to broaden our possibilities. Motivate us to do something different. To do something uncommon.

Here is a possible SOS diorama:

Though it is the Titanic, I believe the diorama does not have to be titanic in scale or build, yet can be just as effective.

Nice idea

What is about the action on Sept. 23, 1779, the frigate, Bonhomme Richard, commanded by John Paul Jones, engages HMS Serapis, commanded by Capt. Richard Pearson off Flamborough Head, England. With Bonhomme Richard being nearly destroyed by enemy fire, Pearson calls for surrender, which Jones replies, “I have not yet begun to fight!” Emerging victorious, Jones captures and takes over Serapis, while Bonhomme Richard sinks into the sea.

Or the sinking of Vasa

“When the Vasa left the bay, some wind took the sails and immediately the ship started to tip over leeward until it was all tipped to the side and slowly started sinking with set sails, flags and everything else.” The whole pride of the Swedish navy had made it only for about one kilometer or 20 minutes. 30 to 50 seamen were killed. What had happened? Today we know: The immense upper structures made the ship instable and so it had to capsize. Had the hull only been 20 cm broader, the Vasa would have been seaworthy!.

G'day Peter
I've an idea for you.
Why don't you do a diorama of the the 3 Japanese Ko-hyoteki-class midget submarines attack on Sydney Harbour on the night of 31st May and 1st June 1942 where the HMAS Kuttabul, a converted ferries was sunk and 21 sailors were killed.
You could have the USS Chicago behind the sinking HMAS Kuttabul.
In these displays of the ships etc you can show explosions, fire and emergency vehicles and people doing their jobs st a time of crisis. The Sydney Harbour Bridge can be shown as well.and other landmarks etc..
Just a thought and I don't think this has been done before.

Now that would be a great diorama!
Thanks for your inspiring idea.

Ahh ...

H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds!
Now, that would be an interesting diorama to undertake. A lot of scope for your electronic knowledge. My mind is boggling with all the possible 'effects' that you could add.

The ship getting its stern shot by the beam. I imagine making a plastic model of such a ship, and then start melting the stern with a heat gun. Then paint it amber hot metal colours.

Hello Peter, you might want to check out this book too.
