If you can post up if you are interested or not it would be great, then pick what you would pay in US $ which should be easy for us all to convert to.

I have given the opportunity to tick up to three boxes, to cover interest and price people would pay either for just the etch sheet of 10 lanterns or a lighting kit which would include the etch, LEDs etc.

I am doing several designs of these tiny lanterns at the moment for my own models. I'm not really here to make money but as I could not find scale ships lanterns at 1:48 and 1:50, well other than large stern lanterns, I just wondered if anyone else wanted some and if it is worth having a run of the photo etch done.

This is the very rough prototype from the Pearl build log. The etch will be much cleaner:

I am doing versions with more bands in them, which look a lot like the lanterns used on ships like the Victory, these have 16 separate 'windows' for the light to shine through.

The lanterns are round with an outside diameter or around 3.8 mm - 4 mm and will accommodate a 3 mm LED

I might do some square Lanterns too.

I will update with pictures of the photo etch when I have the first one done so people can see the quality of the production lanterns.

I have enabled re-voting so you can change your mind regarding the answers you give at any time.

No feedback at all?

The situation is I can get one sheet done, pay double the price myself to cover the photo tool. Repeats will be more economical so the sheets would be available to others at a reasonable price - in fact half the price I am paying myself!

If there is no feedback I can not judge if it is worth spending my money on having the repeats done. So please vote, negative feedback of not interested would be just as helpful right now.

Thanks Brian, will keep you updated, will be a couple of weeks or so to get the sheet designed up and etched.

53 views, one person takes the time to vote lol.

CAD work started on the etch:

Hi Gemma,I did not vote because there was no option for me to vote for, currently I don't need any lantern and can't tell how much would pay for it,good to know that there is somebody who makes these led lanterns, maybe in the future,I'll let you know. Thanks

Hi Zoltan,

Thanks for your interest.

What I have decided to do is run off the sheet I need and also get a quote on a few copies.

I guess the poll could read like a commitment to buy, which was not intentional. It was just meant to find out if people might be interested in purchasing the lantern etch either now or later and what they thought a reasonable price to pay was for a custom made etch like this.

As it is I should have enough copies for forum members, so just let me know later if you want some. By then I will know the price they cost per sheet.

Etch for three types of round lanterns is drawn up. Need to do a final check and get it in the format for submission to the etching company.

Started the day with the daunting task of adding some corrections that kept me awake thinking about them last night. Just a couple of small things I remembered about making the prototype and felt should be fixed for the production version. All done now though.

I bet when I close my eyes tonight, all I will see is ship lanterns :text-lol:
