Hello Everybody,

I have two problems in my life. English and shipmodeling. I don´t know witch one is the most worst.;)
Maybe someone knows my site on facebook https://www.facebook.com/historicshipyard/
I am a beginner in shipmodelling and i fight every day a new war with wood, rigginglines and sails.
My first ship ist the Gjoa from Constructo. I finished the ship now for 98%. It was only a testmodel to collect experience for the next model.
My second ship is the Santa Ana vom Artesania Latina.
I am very insatisfated with the qualitiy and the granularity of details in this kit. There a missing many parts in the Kit and the Modell has a lot of
errors. I changed a lot of parts and will do more modificatioans. It will be my last Kit. For the future i plan my first Scratch Build.
I hope that i will find a lot of informations in this group to make my ships better.

Oliver

G'day Oliver
2 things mate.
1. Your english is very good. I assume your are from Germany as looked at your Facebook page.
The only German I know was from school many years ago. I love Google translate!
2. To me you have faught a brilliant battle with wood and you've not conceded anything. You have won the war!
Happymodeling
Greg

Hallo Oliver
2 Dinge paaren sich.

Happymodeling

Greg

Thanks Greg,

to write in english will be a good training for me. I need more practice. I also speak portuguese and i know that a language live and die with the practice.
To lost things is very simple. Muscles, money, knowledge, everything for what you work hard you can lost quick. A language is the same thing.
There wait a lot of interesting battles in the future for me. My next project is to build the Bonhomme Richard with the Plan from Jean Boudriot. And this war, my friend.....:)

Hallo and "Grüß Gott" nach München.......
Once more at this place we want to say Welcome here on our forum.
First of all: Your model is realy looking good for the first model ever built - Great work!
Be sure you will get the best possible assistance on kit m,odeling, but also with scratch building here in our group of modeling friends.......
Here are very helpful and good modelers, which are very friendly and helpful.

I realized, that you are looking to get printed drawing from the Santa Anna.
Did you try already at the "Archivo del Museo Naval" ?
According the foot-note the drawing you are showing on facebook is from there and on the web-page you can see also the original draught.
Take a look here:
https://patrimoniocultural.defensa.gob.es/en/centros/archivo-museo-naval/historia/
Search a little bit more on the web-page and maybe it is the best to write a very friendly mail to the office of the Archive......these people are usually very helpful....

@ Greg

Use it or loose it is a very good tip. I will remember on this in other things in my life. It fits for all.

@Uwe

Servus Uwe,

Thanks for you for you praise. The Archivo del museo naval was a very good tip. The orginalplan on the main page will help me. I wrote an email with more questions, Maybe they have the plan in a bigger solution. I was looking about the foot-note in the past, but i found only the link to the spanish armada. But the homepage doesn´t work, maybe they doesn´t pay the bills...

helo Oliver I wish you a warm welcome in this beautiful forum, if you say you have two problems namely English and ship modeling, do forget the first before there is Google translate and your second problem waw, what you built there is no problem at all but an exelent nice ship that you built there, do so and you will see that the Santa Ana will not be a problem for you at all
greetings from Ostend

Thanks Willy,

The Santa Ana ist my Lession two. I try to do it better and dont make the same error two times. The ship is a little bigger :p and have a lot of places more to make new errors. But for me is facinating how much you can learn in a short time if your open your mind and use the brain. A modelship is a good example for that you get what you put in. Quick and dirty or slow and nice.

Just noticed, that you are interested in the Bonomme Richard.....stay tuned - I will make asap a Book Review of the mentioned drawing set and the book from Jean Boudriot - but be aware: this ship is not the easiest one as a first scratch built

I am prepareted for this inferno. I will follow JFK !
"We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal is to serve and to measure the best of our energy and skills, because that's one of the things we're willing to accept, one we're not to postpone"

Ohhh we can see that you are well prepared! also the four books about the 74 gun ship from Jean Boudriot (I think these are the english versions).
Be careful !!!! These monographies from ancre are like a drug.
I think I started by myself with the same books like you, and in the meantime I have appr. 20 of them......You can not stop, I could not stop collecting them

You are right, these books are very dangerous. Expansive toys, but good books are very rare e have a price. But its a good investment. If you have luck, they will be in some years more expansive. My books are the english version from 1986. I bought them from an older sir. Read and understand this stuff is an another war for me :).
Yesterday i bought this babe on ancre.fr. But the german version. I will hope to find a lot of useful tips how can I do some things better.
