Hi Modelers,

Just starting a new topic available to everybody. The idea is that you can post here all news about new kits on the market or kits that are under development.
We see a lot of news coming especially from China at the moment with top of the bill new kits, part of these are some cutting edge POF kits. If you find something interesting on the web you can post it here preferably with a link. In this way we avoid messing up somebody els his log.
My first link is to a very detailed picture gallery of a new Chinese model of a Dutch statenjacht, some of you maybe already have seen this.

Found this one on a Russian site. Model will be launched in this version somewhere in the near future.
Hope this will provide us with a lot of news.

Great idea, Maarten. This debate has been scattered in several areas on this forum and can I ask that Admin kindly consider raising a separate topic header 'New Kits' or something similar such that the information is gathered in one easily accessible place. Thanks.

OOPS NOT WHAT I INTENDED TO say (NEW KIT PROJECTS INCLUDING PLANS AND INSTRUCTIONS) will cover a most important aspect of building using great plans and instructions, which determine the out come of a satisfactory build. Don

Hi gents,

See we already get a great discussion.
Maybe indeed admin can make it a new forum group to keep a good overview of it.
The name should cover the content and what it finally will be is not my greatest concern.
I think we have to make the split between kits and building scratch from plans.

A good idea indeed. But maybe not too many categories in which I personally tend to get lost.

Now about that Pegasus, I really have mixed feelings. I know that this kind of ship could be fairly overloaded with decoration (see for instance http://www.modelships.de/Max_Emanuel_Klaas/Schiffsmodell_Max_Emanuel.htm). It has to be said that the sculptures on this model are some of the best I have ever seen. But it is just too much: the side boards would really be inefficient, and the prow looks clumsy, too large, and seem to have been designed for a first rate warship.
Now that the Chinese are no longer allowed to carve in ivory, I hope they will use that highly qualified personnel to make ship carvings like these. So the Pegasus while being stunningly impressive, for me lacks the elegance of an "Enterprize", or a "Royal Caroline".

One last thing: I think I read somewhere that there is some smartphone app available that allows a translation from a printed text by scanning it. If that is right, it may be very useful to modellers building one of these kits. Anyone an idea?

I take a different view on the pegases, the ornamation is not to much, JUST LOOK AT AV Hovings book on the STANJACT UTERECT, and I getting near compltion of the Dusek Stanjacht kit it has plenty of resin castings, looks good, remeber these ships were built for plesure for the weathy of the time and for prestige, i want to do a POF OF THE STANJACHT, like mcardels book. JUST MY OPION Don

Hi gents,

The statenjachten like the Utrecht were the rolls royces of the 17th and 18th century in The Netherlands. The rich and famous used them for their transportation. These were the in those days newly rich which showed their extreme wealth the earned mainly by trade. These jachten could be extremely decorated. Therefore I think the chineese pegasus well fits the appearance of a Statenjacht. Think these were mainly used for inland waterways and sometimes at sea.

This is a few clicks of my buttons

Below the skeleton assembly, we assembled the keel board, the keel board is divided into three ABC, the largest marked with a B above an arrow, the direction of the arrow is the direction of the keel head, which is marked with a keel The direction of the board is as shown in Figure 1. First, we first put three keel boards into a dummy group (Figure 2), then apply the glue to the keel board interface, butt the keel boards together with a straight board The bottom edge of the keel lean against it to prevent misalignment (Figure 3). When assembling the keel plate, we try to choose a flat workbench, preferably on a thick glass plate, to ensure that the keel The flatness. In the same way, the rear keel is also glued (Figure 4). After bonding, we can install the keel plate. A total of four reinforcement plates, which marked the A word is the front seams reinforcement plate, marked with the word B is the rear seams reinforcement plate (Figure 5), we use the brush on the A plate reinforcement White latex, gluing the reinforcing plate to the seams at the front of the keel, taking care not to apply too much, or squeezing it out behind the nails to find a 5 mm thick laminate that can be used in a kit Rib plate. Do not allow the stiffener to affect the subsequent installation of the ribs (Figure 6). Note that the lower edge of the stiffener has an oblique angle that is oriented toward the bow and then Bonding to the stiffener of the rear seams, gluing the stiffener marked B to the seams at the rear seams, the beveled corner of the lower edge of the stiffener should be oriented in the rearward direction (Figure 7), bonding After a good time, we have to reverse the keel, glued the other side. After both sides are glued, but also need further reinforcement with nails (Figure 8), nail nail, be careful not to dislocation reinforcement plate, sometimes because of white latex more reasons, will produce

This is how I did it.
1: took the photo of the text and crop it.
2: spent Google translate app
3: where asked by Google to import scan, I said yes.
4: a blue screen appear with white outline words. Share this to my simple note pad on my phone
5: WALA! Text ready to edit and read etc.
As you can see I change the colour at the beginning and at the end to red! Just you show you can change to to anything.
Havagooday to all

Google translate. I have also got on my phone an OCR programme that converts photo to text. I forgot about that because it was installed a long time ago, but come to think about it, that was on my last phone and may be it was copied over when I upgraded from a Note 3 to Note 5.
Just search for a OCR PROGRAMME and install it as Well.
