Mantua Sergal's Sovereign of Seas

This is a program !!!! - It is every time good to have plans for the future

Gary,
You have been working on the most hated part of the model building (at least for me). Nice progress!
At the beginning of my SoS I thought I possibly can catch up with you but no chance now. And, as a consequence, Le Soleil Royal still has to wait?

Hello. I just purchased this Sergal kit and came across your build log. Incredible detail. My "new" kit however did not come with the assembly book. Unfortunately the link in your first post is no longer active. Would you happen to know of another site for this reference? Second, should there be a template for the gunport cutouts or did you mark these from the sheets? Thanks in advance.

There should be gunport templates (or, rather, plywood sections with the gunports cut out) in the kit. If they are not there, the kit is not complete.
I've got the manual, can give you a copy if you need it.

There was no template and the instructions were pretty generic. I did a lot of research and sent to the louve museum in Paris France to get pictures of the model in their collection. Most of the changes that were made were based upon these pictures. The rigging was based upon books dedicated to this time period.

The gun ports are cut out of some ply wood.
When I got my kit half of it was missing, I emailed the shop and he thought it was a big joke.
He did send the parts, well most of them, but had to make some my self, he said he was out of 4mm x 4mm walnut.

Denis.

Hi you can get the SOS building book on line.
Some photos are out of order.

Denis.

Thanks all. I do have the plan sheets and a small 4 page booklet called supplemental instructions (no photos). The Cornwall link is active but I notice that it doesn't include the rigging. My supplemental booklet describes hand making the gunport openings. It would appear that there are variations to the kit over the years.

Hello Gary
I am only seeing your log now.
Congrats for the great build and the details
1 quick question for you: what is the paint brand and color # that you used for the gun ports. The red color is really nice.

Hello Gary. So nice build... You did a great job!!!
A late comer I am... I started building this kit a few weeks ago. I was searching the web for more detailed rigging instructions. The rigging instructions in the kit are virtually non-existent!!!
I found this log, but unfortunately the link you put is not working. At least I couldn't find the detailed instructions there... Would it be too much to ask you to email me the pdf you got?... I'd be much obliged!!! Thank you in advance.

To which post you refer?
Gary was a longer time not online, so I do not know, if he will read and reply, but maybe somebody else of us is able to help
