Hi Eerman,
Welcome aboard and congratulations on starting on your Sultana build! I always thought she was a very pretty ship and a nice subject to model. The reference books Gary lists are great and I use them as well. Do you have the Sultana practicum? If not, it's a free download from the Model Expo site: http://www.modelexpo-online.com/product.asp?ITEMNO=MS2016
Just go to that page, click on the Documents tab and you have a list of all the downloads for the kit. I think the practicum is in 8 parts. You don't have to follow all of it, as it does go into techniques that you may not want to get into.
One of the things I really love about solid hull kits is that you can really put as much or as little into them as time permits. If you want something really great and nicely shaped, the hull requires some sanding, maybe a little carving. You can even plank the hull over if you want, as it makes a very smooth, solid surface to support your planking.
It any case, it's a good model with a lot of good ship modeling challenges that should keep you busy for a bit. Hope you start a build log!
