Hello. How do one introduce oneself? I am a 47 year old teacher from Karlskrona/Sweden who has been building a lot of plastic models, mostly tanks and airplanes but also a few ships. I want to explore the world of shipmodels more. My hometown is internationally known for the unexpected visit by a Whisky-class russian submarine back in 1981. The whole town was built as a support-function to the navys shipyard that still is "alive and kicking" in 1680. In thefuture i hope to build a wooden sailshipmodel but for the moment I am working on Revells "Bounty".

Welcome. This is a great site with builders at all levels. Look around and enjoy the site. You can start a log and show us your work. I enjoy ships since they take more work but also make great displays. I got my start on plastic models and then moved on to wood for more challenge and better models.

G'day from thelandownunder Ulf
Welcome to SOS, I think is the best and friendliest forum on the net.
We have a area where you can post your build on plastic models. Or you can learn how to build wooden ships if you want. I think most of us, all started in the plastic world and we ventured over to wood.
If you have any questions regarding the step over, just ask and someone will have the answer that you required.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, that is how you'll learn.
Look at different logs and they are also a great way to learn. Our members put a lot of details in their steps by step instructions, you'll be amazed in what you can learn.
Hope to see your friendly face in your own log someday, and if you are struck, there will be someone there to help you.
Havagooday and happymodeling

Hi Ulf,

I started with plastic models myself. My first plastic model ship was the USF Constitution back when I was a teenager. I stuck with plastic models for much of my adult life until I found an ad for a wooden model ship in a magazine. That's when I made the switch and have been building wooden model ships ever since.

SOS is a very friendly forum with many friendly members of with various levels of experience and skills from around the world. Personally, I'm in the US. I'm sure you'll find your niche in ship modeling with one once you give it a try. Anyway, welcome to the group. I look forward to seeing your first wooden model ship.

Bob

Also from my side a warm welcome on board of forum.... all very helpful and friendly modelers

Happy to see your actual built......maybe you can show us the further works in a building log, I think it would be no problem also to start in between......
You are correct with the anchor rope.......this can not be, so maybe you change it to make it technically correct.

The sad thi8ng considering the anchor is that IRL there was and is on every ship of this kind two holes in the hull for the anchorline but not on this model and I just wanted to move on. I should perhaps tried to drill a hole but....I don´t know if I'm up to it, at the moment. But it has to be done before the serious rigging starts.
