Hi Bob,

Nice looking model. What scale is it? What is the length of the ship? Can you post some photos of the model when it was under construction or share some details of how you built it?

Thanks,

Bob

Very professional Bob! What is the primary material - wood, plastic, resin, card?

Thanks,
It is built to a scale of 32 feet to 1 inch (1:384). The hull length is 17.8 inches. It took 93 hours to build, all timed on a stopwatch. If I stopped work for any reason, I stopped the watch.
The hull is obeche (medium hardwood). Plated with writing paper. Deck machinery made from turned brass. Masts, derricks and rigging, brass tube, rod, and fine copper wire. Portholes drilled in. Windows and doors made in computer and printed onto self-adhesive film, cut out and stuck on. Lifeboats styrene sheet, vacuum-formed in a small home-made vacuum box. Display case home-made, 3mm acrylic, veneered quadrant and edges. I never build famous ships, only the obscure, and semi obscure. Steam or sail, all the same to me, but merchant ships only. More details may be found here on SOS in my section Maritime History, Building Logs 19th 20th Century. But there has been virtually no activity, as this type of model is not very popular amongst ship model builders! FREE download here covering my build of the barque East African. http://payhip.com/b/HPK3
I find it virtually impossible to put images on here these days. It took numerous tries to get the Imperial Star on! I know all about the required file sizes, and am well within the limits, but they rarely appear.

Trying again with the image of East African.
