HMS Royal Caroline kit ZHL 1/30

Hi John,

Wait before doing that, on the 4h model site there is already a discussion from CAF that they are working on a full frame kit of the rc with 5 axis 3d carvings. There are already samples of the figure head of this model.

This would be a great kit - realy something for me - do you know or was it mentioned in which scale?
The carving of the figurehead is extreme good

No more news yet. Except for this figure head and some other carvings. Will see if I get acces again to 4h model to copy the available info. Scale was debated about 1:30 to 1:48.

Your imagination is out standing, to say the least. Are you going to do anything 'special' to the inside of the windows frames? Knowing you, I think you got something very interesting in mind.
Also are you going to put seat cushions on the side benches?
Just brilliant mate

Hi greg,

Yes the benches get seat cushions, I think from the same blue cloth as in the kings bedroom. I have been looking into bookbinders leather as ADC mentioned but didn't find anything suitable sofar. Window frames is still in my mind but for sure I will not use the ones provided in the kit maybe only parts of it. Hopefully coming weekend I can have a look at it, at the moment travelling abroad.

G'day Maarten
I'm looking forward to see what you came up with the windows frames.OkOk
Have a very profitable and enjoyable time abroad. BarefootThumbsup

You are right...these carvings are amazing.....but still very expensive
Maybe CAF will / could make add ones with carvings with new Technologie for the existing kits, like my Salamandre....would be also interesting

Hi Uwe,

They did that already for the La Belle. CAF is now working with 5 axis cnc creating these beautiful full 3d carvings.
See below the new carvings of the la belle. Old on the left, new on the right.

Back to my own RC. The wall paneling is sanded and waxed. On the door and drawers I have used nails as handles, idea of John. For the lighting I used the lamps supplied with the kit. The bench has now been covered with blue velvet cloth, glued with hot melt glue and shaped with electric wire.

Now it is time to cover the ps bank, then the panels can be fitted, finish the window frame and then the parquet floor.

This is just amazing the bookcase's look awesome. love the blue coverings on the bench's and chair. Your details are incredible and they make this build like no other. Its truly Inspiring what your doing and I suspect if this gets around these type details will be the new normal. I always say anyone can build something with enough time given, but only you can make it your own, one of a kind that's different from all others. You have certainly done that here Brother

Now the ps bench is covered with blue velvet also I have temporary fitted the bulkheads to start with the parquet floor. This to remove the bulkheads afterwards to properly sand down my parquet floor.

For the floor I use real woods which I wil fit into a pattern to create a real miniature parquet floor.
For this I use strips of wood as can be seen below in beech, ebony and rosewood. White, black and red.

To be continued.

Your idea of the floor design and execution are absolutely brilliant.
I would have never thought of doing the floor that way.Thumbs-Up

I be stealing this idea when I do mine.;)
Hope that you don't mind.

Hi Greg,

Go ahead. See below a link of what is on order in the Dutch webshop where I bought these. Plenty options for a nice floor. Normally these are used by furniture makers.
