My name is Andy, I was born and grew up near to where HMS Victory was built in Kent, England, but I now live in N. Ireland. I have built plastic models since I was old enough to hold a tube of glue, and built a few wooden ships a number of years ago. I have been building plastic and resin ships lately using Photo Etch and wooden deck add ons but visiting this forum as a guest has inspired me to return to building wooden ships.

Hello Andy, welcome aboard.,of course we would like to see your plastic ships too as your wooden ones.

Thanks Zoltan and Geoff. I have a couple of resin builds I will post when I get chance. I have just started Artesania Latina's Bon Retour,
Cheers Andy

Hi Andy

As a forum model ship builder for model ship builders. We enjoy our hobby.

As I am still learning the hobby. Experience model ship builders will help out.

Welcome Andy. Glad you like the forum. Some of the new plastic models with wooden decks and photo etched parts are really exceptional and almost tempt me to go back and build one. It has been decades since I have built in plastic and I just love wood to much. There is some great plastic castings in some of the Chinese kits and they seem to rival the cast ones for detail and do not have to have the flash cleaned off.

Thanks Geoff and Gary.
I have a couple of plastic and photo etch kits still to build, but unlike wooden kits, I find plastic to be more of a just stick parts together rather than having to make the parts first.
Cheers Andy
