I am an enthusiast modeler from Belgium. I used to do plastic models of all kinds and I want now to start a wood model of the HMS victory. I am planning a 1:50 kind of admiralty model, as I would like to show an accurate structure and the full internal of the beast. By now I am still preparing the build in my books. I have The Alan McGowan and John McKay books, as well as the one from Nepean Longridge. I understand that my project is not the easiest one but hey! no pain no gain isn't it?

Welcome aboard That's a massive undertaking your starting on. I always say if it were easy everyone would be doing it you go big or go home. cant wait to see this build come to life.

G'day Laurent from the Land Downunder
Welcome aboard to our family and our hobby. We are a friendly mob here, more like family than members.
It's a very interesting idea that you have to build a 1:50 scale of the of the HMS Victory as an admiralty model style.
That's an ambitious and a very difficult project and I would advice you to do that model after that you have more experience of building a kits version first.
It can be very daunting to a well experienced modeler to do what you wanted to do.

Above is a kit, which is similar to what you wanted to do. Remember all the parts in this kit are CNC lazer cut and that's is half the work done for you.
It would take an experience modelshipright about five years to complete a build like this one from scratch.
If you decide to proceed, I'll be watching and help you when you can.
Happymodeling
Greg

A warm welcome also from my side - we will assist you in your project where ever possible.
