This is my plastic model of the HMS Victory from Heller. I bought it back in 1985 from Model Expo for $50 (it was on sale). I worked on it a little - finished hull and lower guns and it sat in my display case until October of last year. I just finished it June of this year, I've added a lot of photo etch, aftermarket blocks, deadeyes, and sails.

There isn't a like button on these forums but if there was I would have pressed it. So, let me add my congratulations to you for completing a very difficult model. I had it for a while but decided it was too much for me to build so I either sold it or traded it away. Your build shows how much can be done with a plastic model. Granted you don't get to show off your wood working skills as there isn't any but I assume that you, like me, are more interested in the looks of the final product. I am not a skilled wood worker and all my life I have built plastic models so that is where my skill and talent lies. I have only recently restarted working on wood ship models and I have a long way to go with that medium and owing to my advancing age I most likely will never finish a quality build of a wood model. As for plastic I am much more likely to be able to finish several quality plastic ship kits, if there were that many quality plastic ship kits out there.

Thank you Bob for your very kind reply. My path is similar to yours, in that most of my work has been in plastic. I've only done one wood ship model, the Model Shipways Rattlesnake (see the pic below) which I finished back in 1984, but my interest in wood models has resurfaced! In now building a 1/72 Brigantine which I've posted on this forum.
Warm regards,
Paul Bishop
