the stern frames are cut to the final length so they will not reach down to the surface of the building jig, they are 1/2 inch short.
At this point you can add a 1/2 inch piece of wood on the surface of the jig like you show in your post 339 second picture.

good catch on your part I will extend the stern frames on my drawing.
 
Dave I made a sample of one stern frame that is longer I will show you in picture does this make for better and stronger construction or should I use the original frames anleave them short. THANKS Don
 
what happened was people building the Halifax sanded the hull then they cut it loose from the jig and built the stern right side up. So what I did was to cut the stern frames to the final length so they can be installed right side up.
Looking back I think your way of building the stern while the hull is still in the jig is a better way to go.

the idea of making longer stern frames is much better way .
 
the pictures show the bevels being sanded in is correct. as you can see the last frame is starting to fall in place

your idea of making longer stern frames is a better idea than trying to use the shorter ones. I am going back to my files and extend the stern frames. So far what you have looks good the bevel on the last frame is bringing the side of the frame closer to the wing transom like it shows in the Hahn photos. So I would remake the short stern frames and continue.
 
one thing I did notice in the Hahn photos he cut a shallow notch in the wing transom for the stern frames. I don't know if that is really necessary you can just glue the stern frame right to the top of the transom.

I remember when I first started working with Don and I don't think Don will mind me sharing this. It was about resizing pictures. I wrote a lot of PDF files for Don so he understood. One of Don's emails in the early days was I feel, I am nearly there, but I think I will give up. My response was well you may but I am not. Don never did and neither did I. There may have been a few humps and bumps in the road, but we got there.

Don I look forward to looking at your build logs as you progress.

Model Ship building, you can make good friends helping one another. That is where a forum like SOS is great. Friends helping friends.

Pictures showing developing of new base line for taking dimensions for wales, model cut off from jig, deck clamps etc, pictures may be out of sequence, but the premiss is taken measurements from TOP OF JIG TO BOTTOM OF KEEL,,,, mine worked out at 4 3/4 inches both stern and bow, pictures will explain, another view, transfer to plans new

sorry about the sequence of pictures tried to prievew them but then had to do the process all over again, will answer any questions anyone has,,,,, next step to mark out the cut off,,,,, need help on determing the deck clamps location from the plans can not determine them. you requested information about locating the deck clamps on the plans first off the Halifax has different levels in the decks I have color coded them here. The level of these decks are shown on the plans by a dotted line. The dotted line is at the top of the deck beams so when you install the deck clamps you have to lower them below the dotted line the thickness of the beams.
