New member ... model builder from ages back when air brushing was just a novelty idea. huge gap between builds ... WOW what changes in the hobby ... Photo Etch??? You either love it or hate it.

I built Tall ships as a teenager long before there were kits per se. I built the plastic ones for fun and paint like cartoons (On purpose). Yea I'm the wise guy. Nothing changes.

So, my first model out to bat ... was working with my son as he took an interest in building models besides those Swedish cubes. I don't want to advertise for them. Not to be confused with those very delicious meat balls. But those cubes can be a real pain in the foot at two ion the morning, if you know what I mean.

Back to that first model ... here are some near finished shots ... it an F/A-18 crashed on a flight deck with fire crews on scene putting out the blaze.IMG_20180819_184550.jpgIMG_20180819_184901.jpgIMG_20180819_184953.jpg

My son, like myself 40 years ago, wants to become a pilot ... why in heavens name would he want to become a pilot?
I am currently research my next project ... the C. W. Morgan. I know many have been built maybe it's has been over built so to speak. but after a 40 year hiatus from building I figure this would be a good place to start ... So, it's been a while but I'm quite sure there are many things that are kind of like riding a bicycle ... once you get going it all in the rythm and blues.

I bid you all peace,
Wes

Welcome aboard Wes!! I can tell by your wit and history that you and I could indeed share some tales. However, mine go farther back than a mere 40 years. :) I have the Model Expo CW Morgan kit but haven't built it. A challenging build with all those whale boats and that blubber cooker!!! Heck... I have a lot of kits I haven't built yet... oh about 200 or so... but sadly... I seem to be building mostly from scratch these days... I build plastic as well... retired Air Force... why do you Navy guys always seem to be crashing jets? Alas... I digress..

Welcome... to SoS.... some good folk here..

PS: I started with my first airbrush in 1977...

What you cannot see in this model is the decals that make it a Marine Corp., jet just so my son and I get to say, "if it were a Navy pilot this would have never happened."

... C.W. Morgan in a building log.....

Yes, I plan to journal this build here. It will be a scratch build. Right now I am in the midst of a cross country move to Maine from Ohio. So, the build probably will not start until next year. so, for now, I am in research mode. My first objective is to decide. :)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes ...
From the time of first log-in till this post I have been working on pack for the big move.

I have now post a small photo album of the above F/A-18 -- I would not call it a build log per se ... never intended that. but there are a couple of early shots I was sharing with a few people. The model now stand complete. It awaits a cover and I am waiting for my son to help with it ... its his model. And I'm trying to teach him a few things ... now about cabinet making.
