Hi all, my name is Paul and I have been building wooden model ships as well as paper models since when I was very young from 1979 on an on and off basis. Early retirement due to illness has now given me a lot of spare time to start up again. Work, family and other interests had gotten in the way over the past 2 decades.
I have completed Corel’s Amphion and Mamoli’s Victory and abandoned a couple of early projects due to lack of skill and experience. I have a few kits in my stash including Model Shipways Confederacy, Benjamin Latham and Emma Berry. I also have the cross section Bonhomme Richard from Unicorn Model. As I live in a town house now I have no room for workshop space and work mainly from my kitchen table and outdoors so prefer to build from kits without too much scratch building.
I am looking forward to learn and share ideas and information as well as admire the beautiful work from members here. Greeting to all.

Hi Paull

A very warm welcome from Melbourne Australia

Cheers
Geoff

G'day Paul and welcome aboard, we are an extremely pretty happy bunch on this forum and willing to share info, have a look around and enjoy yourself,

best regards John.

Welcome Paul! We’d love to see some photos of your work. I also have Emma C. Berry in my stash, and after seeing her in person, I’m intrigued with the build. I only have a limited number of “sleeps” left in my life, though!

Welcome aboard Paul. You will find a lot of friends with common interests here!!!

Mike

Thank you all for your kind welcomes. I completed my last model over a decade ago and all have been given away except for a couple of paper models lying about. I like the Emma C Berry kit as it POF with interior components and with potential for further enhancements. Now that I am back into the hobby I would like to expand into POF kits as it is a different challenge from POB. I learnt my hobby self taught and tend to finish my models differently from most usual ways. I use self mixed base stains, artist inks and multiple schellac coats rather than lacquers and paints to get a very fine finish. I hope to show them off as I progress in my next build and learn to improve on other aspects of model building which I am deficient from members expertise.

Welcome. As you can see this is a friendly p;ace to be and the members are eager to help with any questions you might have. Reading through the different sections on this site will answer several and will give you solutions to things or show you how to do things that you might not have thought about. Hope you enjoy this site and return to a great hobby.
